or the incubation of the NSC BI’s, preset incubators are available. These incubators have 15 slots for placing the BI’s and include a crushing well to enable the user to activate the BI’s.
Incubator model Ninc-E is designed for incubating NSC biological indicators. This model is set on a temperature of between 30-37°C (for E.O.) or 60°C (for steam).
There are 15 incubation slots available to place the self-contained biological indicators. For convenience a crushing well is integrated to enable the user to activate the BI’s. The Etigam NSC consists of a self-contained unit that includes bacterial spores inoculated onto a paper filter carrier and a small glass ampoule containing a culture medium all encased in a plastic vial that serves as the culture tube.
After removing the NSC from the sterilizer and confirming that the chemical indicator printed on the label of the NSC has turned orange, the NSC needs to be activated using the integrated crushing well on the device or a separate vial crusher. This way the growth medium will saturate to the spore strip inside the tube. The now activated NSC needs to be incubated according to the specifications and regularly checked for spore growth. Spore growth can be noticed by a color change of the medium and/or turbidity in the tube. If the indicator turns yellow, the test is positive indicating inadequate sterilization.
